Events

Following the last horrible 18 months, its good to see that things are going back to normal. The best things is that I will finally have the chance to attend a few art and craft fairs in person. Below are some of the events I’m planning to attend in November and December. I hope to see you there!

I’m delighted to announce that I will be taking part in the Out of the Blue exhibition at the Regency Townhouse on November 4-7. This exhibition is organized by the Seven Dials Artists & Makers group and will feature the work of 21 of its members. Along the Seafront Exhibition, Celebrating Brighton&Hove’s Architecture

I’m currently exhibiting my work at the West Pier Trust. Along The Seafront, Celebrating Brighton ad Hove Architecture, is a pictorial exploration of the buildings that changed my life. The architecture that inspired me to become an illustrator after 16 years working as an architect.
My first ever drawing in Brighton was of one of the covered shelters along the seafront. Fascinated by the decorative arts, the Victorian aesthetic of blending functionality and ornamentation inspired me to represent this humble structure in my own style.
Other buildings followed including landmarks such as the Royal Pavilion and the Bandstand. But I was still drawn to the other styles including the Regency houses in Brunswick and Palmeira Square and the Modernist Embassy Court.
The exhibition will be up until early next year and the Trust is open most days between 11-5 but if you want to talk to me about it remember I will be there every Wednesday from October 20. West Pier Trust, Kings Road, Brighton BN1 2FL

It’s so exciting to see the Artist Open Houses opening again. The event in May was amazing so we are hoping people will continue coming to these amazing houses looking for Christmas Presents. This year the festival runs for 3 weekends: 27-28 Nov, 4-5 Dec and 11-12 Dec. I’m taking part in two events this year:

From the Man I Love House in 13 Maldon Road, Brighton, BN1 5BD. One of the friendliest houses and voted in the top ten best Open Houses, it will offer a variety of art and gifts for everyone plus afternoon tea, cakes and spiced cider to warm you up! 27-28 Nov, 4-5 Dec and 11-12 Dec

Friends of St Ann’s Well Gardens Christmas Fair. Following the success of the summer Open House they held in the Gardens, the organisers are planning to participate in the Xmas one this year too with a large marquee on the old bowling green, decorated with lights, festive spirit and centre stage, a beautiful tree. Alongside the work of local artists  and makers there will be stalls selling mulled wine, hot snacks and mince pies. I will be showing my work on Sunday 12th December between 11am and 5pm.

After an enforced  2-year break I’m delighted to announce that I’ll be taking part in the ever-popular Made Brighton show that will go take place this November at the wonderful St Bartholomew’s Church in Brighton in November on Friday 26th and Saturday 27th between 10am and 5pm.

The main body of the church will be used to show the work of sixty makers, exhibiting a wide variety of original work; jewellery, knitwear, ceramics, wood, print, silversmithing, textiles, clothes, toys and more suitable for Christmas Presents.

200 metres of festoon lights will illuminate the nave of this wonderful church (the tallest in Britain!) which will make for a magical setting for this Christmas show. Entry tickets are only £5 so make sure not to miss this wonderful event. St. Bartholomew’s Church. Ann Street, Brighton BN1 4GP. At this even I’ll be showing my brand new mugs and tea towels, the new 2022 calendars, Christmas cards, placemats, coasters, and much more! See you there!
