    • London Lloyd’s Building Sunrise Print – NEW

      £30.00£120.00

Lloyd’s building in London, is the second major building by Richard Rogers following the construction of the Centre Pompidou in Paris.

One of the 1980s most recognisable pieces of architecture, the Lloyd’s building demonstrates many of the key traits of the high-tech architecture style that emerged in the UK in the late 1960s. The building, which was built as the headquarters of Lloyd’s of London – one of the world’s largest insurance firms – is distinguished by its radical inside-out aesthetic that sees all its building services banished to its exterior in order to create uninterrupted spaces inside.

    • Little Moreton Hall Sunrise Print – NEW

      £30.00£120.00

Little Moreton Hall is a moated half-timbered manor house near Congleton in Cheshire, England. The earliest parts of the house were built for the prosperous Cheshire landowner William Moreton in about 1504–08, and the remainder was constructed in stages by successive generations of the family until about 1610. The building is highly irregular, with three asymmetrical ranges forming a small, rectangular cobbled courtyard. The house’s top-heavy appearance, “like a stranded Noah’s Ark”, is due to the Long Gallery that runs the length of the south range’s upper floor.

    • New York Chrysler Building Sunrise Print

      £30.00£120.00

The Chrysler Building is an Art Deco–style skyscraper located in the Turtle Bay neighborhood on the East Side of Manhattan, New York. At 1,046 feet (318.9 m), the structure was the world’s tallest building for 11 months before it was surpassed by the Empire State Building in 1931. When the Chrysler Building opened, there were mixed reviews of the building’s design, ranging from views of it as inane and unoriginal to the idea that it was modernist and iconic. Perceptions of the building have slowly evolved into its now being seen as a paragon of the Art Deco architectural style.

    • London Queen’s House Sunrise Print – NEW

      £30.00£120.00

Queen’s House is a former royal residence built between 1616 and 1635 in Greenwich, a few miles down-river from the then City of London. It is architecturally important, as well as being famous for its former occupants and its art collection.

The famous architect Inigo Jones was commissioned to design the building in 1616 by King James I’s wife, Anne of Denmark. However Anne of Denmark never lived to see Inigo Jones’s progressive Classical design realised, dying in 1619 with only the first floor completed. It was not until 1629, when James’s son Charles I gave Greenwich to his wife Henrietta Maria, that work on it resumed.

The Queen’s House was completed around 1636 and is considered remarkable for its break with the traditional, red-brick Tudor style of building, and for its elegant proportions and the high quality of its interiors. It was the first fully Classical building in England.

Designed and built by Magnus Volk, the ‘pioneer’ or ‘Daddy Long Legs’ as it was popularly known served the Brighton and Rottingdean seashore electric railway between 1896 and 1901. Propulsion was by electric motorand due to regulations then in place, a qualified sea captain was on board at all times, and the car was provided with lifeboats and other safety measures. This was a proposal by Magnus Volk for a railway that ran along on rails underneath the sea for about 50 to 100 yards offshore, from where his existing electric railway finished all the way to Rottingdean, where it was connected to a pier. The tramcar ran on stilts that were about 24 feet above the sea bed.
