Highpoint I was the first of two apartment blocks erected in the 1930s on one of the highest points in London, England at Highgate. The architectural design was by the Russian-born architect Berthold Lubetkin, the structural design by the Anglo-Danish engineer Ove Arup and the construction by Kier. When the building was completed, it became widely renowned as the finest example of this form of construction for residential purposes. When Corbusier himself visited Highpoint in 1935 he said, “This beautiful building …. at Highgate is an achievement of the first rank” The building was technically advanced for its time with many innovative features and was constructed in monolithic reinforced concrete. Highpoint One was widely published on completion, becoming in effect the flagship of the Modern Movement in Britain.
Please note:
* The colours you see on your screen may not look exactly the same as the actual print. This is because every computer, Smart phone and iPad screen is configured differently. Hopefully you will think the prints look even more beautiful in real life.
