An Anglican Cathedral dating from the late 17th century. It was designed in the English Baroque style by Sir Christopher Wren and its construction was part of a major rebuilding programme in the City after the Great Fire of London. The cathedral is one of the most famous and most recognisable sights of London. Its dome, framed by the spires of Wren’s City churches, dominated the skyline for 300 years. At 365 feet (111 m) high, it was the tallest building in London from 1710 to 1962. The dome is among the highest in the world. St Paul’s is the second largest church building in area in the United Kingdom after Liverpool Cathedral.

    • London Tower Bridge Print

      £30.00£120.00

London’s Tower Bridge is one of the most recognizable bridges in the world. Its Victorian Gothic style stems from a law that forced the designers to create a structure that would be in harmony with the nearby Tower of London.

Plans for the Tower Bridge were devised around 1876 when the east of London became extremely crowded and a bridge across the Thames in that area of the city seemed a necessity.

The bridge, designed by city architect Horace Jones in collaboration with John Wolfe Barry, would eventually be completed in 1894. At the time many people disliked its Victorian Gothic design, but over time the bridge became one of London’s most famous symbols.

    • London Tate Modern Card

      £3.00 £1.50

This blank card features the iconic Tate Modern in the South Bank and is the perfect gift for anyone who loves London architecture.

The former Bankside Power Station was selected as the new gallery site in 1994. The following year, Swiss architects Herzog & De Meuron were appointed to convert the building into a gallery. That their proposal retained much of the original character of the building was a key factor in this decision.

The iconic power station, built in two phases between 1947 and 1963, was designed by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott. It consisted of a stunning turbine hall, 35 metres high and 152 metres long, with the boiler house alongside it and a single central chimney. However, apart from a remaining operational London Electricity sub-station the site had been redundant since 1981.

The design is digitally printed on to 300gsm FSC certified card and comes packaged in a biodegradeable cellophane wallet.

    • London National Theatre Print

      £30.00£120.00

Designed by Denys Lasdun, The style of the National Theatre building was described “an aesthetic of broken forms” at the time of opening. Architectural opinion was split at the time of construction. However, despite the controversy, the theatre has been a Grade II* listed building since 1994. Although the theatre is often cited as an archetype of Brutalist architecture in England, since Lasdun’s death the building has been re-evaluated as having closer links to the work of Le Corbusier, rather than contemporary monumental 1960s buildings such as those of Paul Rudolph.  The carefully refined balance between horizontal and vertical elements in Lasdun’s building has been contrasted favourably with the lumpiness of neighbouring buildings such as the Hayward Gallery and Queen Elizabeth Hall.
